P.Ellis Drums is a small custom drum company that offers competitive pricing on drums made to accommodate each drummer’s individual needs.  I, Philip Ellis, specialize in working directly with drummers to find the exact specs of each order, from the overall look of the drums to the type of sound wanted out of each drum.  My goal is to collaborate and innovate with each P.Ellis Drum owner to provide them with the most perfect drum for their needs.

P.Ellis Drums came into existence in June of 2006 when I created the very first P. Ellis Custom drum set in the living room that I shared with my 6 housemates. After playing on a summer tour with The Rocketboys and receiving compliments on the appearance and sound of the drums, I knew I had something worth pursuing. Over the next year I made a few drum sets and snares for some friends, but I was running out of room quickly. In June of 2007, I moved my workshop from my living room to a wood shop located at the Glass Jar Studios in Abilene, Texas to make room for more drums to be worked on. In January of 2009 P. Ellis Drums moved to Austin, TX.

Besides making drums, I also love playing drums. I started playing drums in bands when I was 10 years old. I was self taught for a while from listening and playing along to ’90’s rock like Weezer, The Toadies, Tonic, Goo Goo Dolls, Blessed Union of Souls, Third Eye Blind, etc…I took lessons for a year in Tyler, TX from Ken "Nardo" Murray. While I was in college I took lessons from Dr. Allen Teel, played the drum set in the pit (marching band), and was a member of a percussion ensemble for 4 years.  I started recording on artist’s records when I was 13 and have had the privilege of working with some amazingly talented people.
